At last, some lead to push around.

I'm glad to introduce my first ACW unit. Some Union infantry from a generic regiment who may well morph into something else sometime later. There is no State flag you'll note as I've not yet settled on one and the Grant Rules don't allow for a 4th "Officer"! Not that I'll let that stop me.
Marching past the camera in line. A Fenton 12PR SB in the foreground. Generic Union Flag proudly displayed! Courtesy of Warflag.
Gunners getting their uniforms in the background. Coincidentally a good match for the Fenlon 12PR SB gun-howitzers.
March-past. A fine sight.
Says it all really, Dr Who producer Barry Letts on DVD in the background, wine-glass, coffee cup and baby bottle in the foreground. Tools of the Trade! I think there are some toy soldiers there somewhere.

Next stop is to paint those gunners. A start has been made. I may have to do some cavalry next.

Very nice toy soldiers ! have just started painting my first Union infantry - had the same problem as you black belts etc do not show up well against dark blue uniform coats ! , have decided to use a slightly lighter blue (not 100% historical but think one can get away with this in Old School). Like the idea in your previous post about 'house rules' as long as they are kept in the OS style I think they will enhance the game .

Yes, indeed! Nothing like the sight of some freshly painted 25 or 30mm figures all lined up and rarin' to go. Nice brushwork there.

Best Regards,

Stokes Schwartz

Fine looking lads. I can seem them marching down main street, breaking hearts and being well cheered on their way. There is something special about freshly painted glossy soldiers.

I don't worry much about the lack of contrast with the belts but I do find that adding the brass chest plate really pops out nicely. Not sure how many stayed in use in the field in real life but.....

Boys in grey next after the guns?

Just finished the gunners. I've some 3" rifles on the way for the next job, but Confederate Infantry will be next on order.
